Marathon on climate change awareness organised by Shoolini University

 Shoolini University organised its annual marathon on Saturday, bringing together more than 550 students, faculty members, and fitness enthusiasts from across the region. The marathon was held under the theme “Climate Change Awareness” and aimed to spread the message of sustainability, health, and environmental responsibility.
The marathon was flagged off from Thodo Ground, Solan, by Additional Deputy Commissioner Rahul Jain, in the presence of Prof. P. K. Khosla Chancellor, Shoolini University, Dr. Neeraj Gandotra Associate Dean, Student Welfare, Brigadier S. D. Mehta Director Operations, and Dr. J. M. Julka. Participants took on a challenging route that tested their stamina and endurance while symbolising the larger fight against climate change.
The event was coordinated by the Sports Department of Shoolini University, led by Mr. Vikrant Chauhan, Assistant Professor of Physical Education, under the guidance of Associate Dean Student Welfare Dr. Neeraj Gandotra, Director Operations Brigadier S. D. Mehta, and Director Sustainability Ms. Poonam Nanda.
Winners were felicitated and awarded cash prizes. In the boys’ category, Arpit, a B.Tech CSE student, secured the first position with an impressive timing of 58 minutes and 48 seconds, winning a cash prize of ₹2,500. He was followed closely by Shashank Rawat, an M.Sc. Biotechnology student, who finished in 58 minutes and 58 seconds, bagging the second prize of ₹1,500. The third place went to Kaulike Sharma from BBA General, who completed the marathon in 1 hour, 2 minutes, and 10 seconds, earning a prize of ₹1,000.
In the girls’ category, Bobita Sonar, a B.A. (Hons) student, claimed the first spot with a remarkable timing of 17 minutes and 29 seconds, winning ₹2,500. Pratiksha from B.Sc. Biotechnology secured second place by completing the run in 17 minutes and 31 seconds, taking home a prize of ₹1,500. Ayushi from B.Sc. Psychology came third with a timing of 18 minutes and 31 seconds, receiving a cash prize of ₹1,000.
