Shimla, August 13 – Auckland House Girls’ School, in collaboration with SPIC MACAY (Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth), hosted a spellbinding Kathak performance by Jaipur Gharana maestro Pandit Rajendra Gangani.

The recital featured pieces dedicated to Lord Ganesh and Lord Ram, vibrant rhythmic compositions, a dazzling jugalbandi between tabla and footwork. Each segment highlighted the intricate balance of rhythm, expression, and storytelling that defines Kathak.

Pandit Gangani, a Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee, was accompanied by Shri Kishore Kumar on tabla, Shri Vinod Gangani on vocals, and Shri Ravi Sharma on sarangi. He shared how Kathak serves as both a cultural heritage and a spiritual journey, urging students to preserve India’s classical traditions.

Principal Smaraki Samanthroy thanked SPIC MACAY for bringing such enriching experiences to the school and expressed gratitude to the media for their continued support in promoting the arts.
