JUIT Marks National Science Day with Focus on Women in Science

Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT), Waknaghat, celebrated National Science Day 2026 with enthusiasm and academic fervour, aligning with the national theme “Women in Science: Catalyzing Viksit Bharat.” The event underscored the growing role of women scientists and researchers in shaping India’s future through innovation and scientific leadership.
The programme was organised jointly by the Departments of Biotechnology & Bioinformatics and Physics & Materials Science, under the guidance of the Honourable CEO, Shri Manu Bhaskar Gaur, whose continued support has strengthened the university’s focus on research-driven education and technological advancement.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. R. K. Sharma inaugurated the event in the presence of senior university officials, faculty members and students. The keynote lecture was delivered by Dr. Krishna Mohan Poluri from IIT Roorkee, who spoke on “The Invisible Revolution: Futuristic Approaches of Nano/Bio-Technology.” He highlighted how emerging technologies such as nanotechnology and biotechnology are poised to revolutionise healthcare, materials science and sustainable development in the coming decades.
The celebration featured a series of academic activities including poster and model competitions, a declamation contest, departmental research exhibitions and guided laboratory visits, allowing students to interact closely with scientific concepts and ongoing research projects. More than 210 students and faculty members participated actively, reflecting the vibrant scientific culture at the university.
Winners of the competitions were honoured with certificates and prizes. The event received financial support from JUIT and technical assistance from the Centre for Healthcare Technologies and Informatics (CEHTI).
The programme also paid tribute to Nobel laureate Sir C. V. Raman, whose discovery of the Raman Effect is commemorated through National Science Day. The celebration reaffirmed JUIT’s commitment to fostering scientific curiosity, encouraging women in STEM fields, and contributing to the national vision of a Viksit Bharat driven by knowledge and innovation.
