JUIT Hosts NDRF-Led FAMEx Program to Boost Disaster Preparedness

Solan, January 14, 2025:
Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT), in association with the 14th Battalion of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Solan, organized a Familiarization Exercise (FAMEx) to strengthen disaster preparedness among its stakeholders.
The Civil Engineering Department (CED) spearheaded the event, with Prof. Ashish Kumar, Head of CED, highlighting its importance in building resilience. Chief Guest Brigadier R.K. Sharma, Registrar of JUIT, shared his vast experience in disaster management and commended the collaboration between JUIT and DDMA Solan.
Inspector Deepak and his NDRF team conducted engaging sessions and practical demonstrations, including:
- Earthquake Safety: “Drop, Cover, and Hold” technique.
- Fire Safety: PASS method for fire extinguisher use.
- First Aid: Handling injuries and extrication techniques.
- Stretcher Usage: Demonstrating types of stretchers.
- Lifting & Carrying: Two-hand, three-hand, and four-hand methods.
- CPR: Techniques for adults, children, and infants.
The program, attended by over 300 participants from various university departments, provided valuable hands-on training, concluding with widespread appreciation for its practical relevance.
