JUIT Forges Partnership with Aether Semiconductors to Bridge Industry-Academia Gaps

Solan, Oct 20 : In a significant step toward bridging the gap between academia and the semiconductor industry, Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Aether Semiconductors Pvt. Ltd. The collaboration, signed in September 2023, aims to equip graduates with essential skills, knowledge, and exposure to the semiconductor industry’s processes and practices.

The MoU is designed to ensure that students meeting academic and aptitude criteria do not face any obstacles due to the lack of foundational skills and the right temperament demanded by the semiconductor industry. This strategic partnership between JUIT and Aether Semiconductors will foster a mutual understanding of the industry’s requirements, leading to the development of relevant academic programs.

Key Initiatives under the MoU:

1. Elective Courses: JUIT will introduce elective courses tailored for students majoring in Electronics, Electrical, and Computer Science, aligning the academic curriculum with industry needs.

2. Industry Expert Knowledge and Training Programs: The collaboration will offer training programs led by industry experts, providing students with practical insights and hands-on experience.

3. Skill Development Courses: Specialized courses focusing on skill development in Computer Science and Electronics and Communication Engineering (CSE and ECE) will be introduced.

4. Semiconductor Industry R&D Projects: Joint research and development projects in the semiconductor industry will be a key component of this partnership.

5. Project Funding: Opportunities for students pursuing MTech and PhD programs to work on industry-approved projects, ensuring practical application of their knowledge.

6. Laboratory Establishment: The MoU explores the feasibility of setting up a semiconductor industry-specific laboratory within the JUIT campus, further enhancing the quality of education.

MoU Signing Details:
– The MoU was officially signed by Prof. (Dr) Rajendra Kumar Sharma, Vice-Chancellor of JUIT, and Dr. Jai Prakash Bajpai, Position Director at Aether Semiconductors Pvt Ltd.

This collaboration will help bridge the gap between academia and the semiconductor industry, providing students with valuable skills and industry insights, ultimately enhancing their employability prospects. The initiative will be coordinated by Dr. Rajiv Kumar, Head of Department, and Dr. Harsh Sohal, Associate Professor in the Electronics and Communication Engineering Department at JUIT. The MoU was formalized in the presence of Mr. Ankush Syal and Sameep Kumar from Aether Semiconductor.
