HPU Drops 26 B.Ed Colleges Over Unpaid Fees

Shimla July 31

In a significant move, Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) has excluded 26 private B.Ed colleges from the centralized counselling process for the 2025–27 academic session for failing to pay affiliation and inspection fees since 2015. These colleges collectively owe over ₹4 crore. As a result, only 28 private colleges with around 3,550 seats are part of the counselling process, leaving more than 3,000 students uncertain about admission.

The B.Ed counselling will begin online from August 7. Despite prior warnings and extensions, only 28 colleges cleared their dues. Colleges can be reconsidered upon payment. Government institutions offer merely 350 seats, making private colleges vital for admission seekers.
