Solan: A first-year student at Bahra University has lodged a formal complaint against his seniors, accusing them of ongoing harassment and physical assault. Based on the student’s statement, an FIR has been registered, and a police investigation is now in progress.
According to the victim, the harassment by the final-year students had been occurring over several days, culminating in a severe incident two days ago when he was allegedly dragged into a room and brutally beaten, resulting in injuries. The student’s account has raised serious concerns about the university’s ability to maintain a safe environment, sparking outrage over how such an incident could occur under the administration’s watch.
SP Solan, Gaurav Singh, confirmed the complaint and stated that a case has been registered. “We have initiated an investigation, and the accused students will be interrogated. Further action will be taken based on the findings,” he added.
Meanwhile, Bahra University’s Registrar, Vineet Kumar, acknowledged the gravity of the situation and revealed that the university’s anti-ragging committee held an emergency meeting on Monday. “We are committed to taking strict action. Ragging is strictly prohibited at Bahra University, and any such behavior will not be tolerated,” Kumar stated.
The incident has ignited a broader discussion on the effectiveness of anti-ragging measures within educational institutions, placing the university under intense scrutiny as authorities seek to ensure accountability and justice for the victim.
