e-FDP on next-gen civil engineering organised at Shoolini University

A five-day long online Faculty Development Programme (e-FDP) titled “Next-Gen Civil Engineering: The Power of AI and GIS,” was organised by the School of Core Engineering and AIU-Shoolini AADC.
It aimed to explore the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in Civil Engineering.
The e-FDP was focused on revolutionising traditional methodologies in infrastructure development, urban planning, and environmental management by integrating AI and GIS technologies. It aimed to equip faculty members with advanced knowledge and practical insights, enhancing their teaching and research capabilities. The initiative is expected to align Shoolini University’s curriculum with contemporary industry standards, ultimately benefiting students.
The programme was inaugurated by Prof. Virender Rihani, Dean of Engineering, who extended a warm welcome to all speakers and participants. The e-FDP featured distinguished speakers from prestigious institutions, including, Dr. Mahesh Sharma, UIT-HPU Shimla, Dr. Akhilesh Nautiyal, NIT Uttarakhand, Dr. Hitesh Upreti, Shiv Nadar University, Dr. Paratibha Aggarwal, NIT Kurukshetra, Mr. Ritam Chakraborty, GIS Analyst, OLA.
All the experts delivered insightful sessions on Artificial Intelligence (AI), machine learning tools in civil engineering, remote sensing techniques, innovations in transportation engineering, and water resource engineering. Participants also engaged in hands-on demonstrations of GIS software in transportation engineering.
The e-FDP saw participation from 56 faculty members and research scholars representing several institutions, including, Shoolini University. Government Hydro Engineering College, Bilaspur, NIT Hamirpur, Chitkara University, Punjab, Gujarat Technological University, Manipal University, Rajasthan, Mahatma Gandhi Government Engineering College, Kotla (Jeori), Shimla, United College of Engineering & Research, Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh
In the valedictory session, Prof. M. S. Thakur extended gratitude to the speakers for their enriching lectures and to the participants for their enthusiastic involvement.
The e-FDP was coordinated and moderated by Dr. Arunava Poddar and Dr. Navsal Kumar, Assistant Professors at the School of Core Engineering.
