BUEST Nursing Students Mark World Cancer Day with Awareness Drive

Nursing students conduct health education programme at Ameesh Hospital, Nalagarh

Nalagarh: World Cancer Day was observed at Ameesh Hospital, Nalagarh, on February 4, 2026, as part of the global initiative led by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC). The programme was organized by first-year B.Sc. Nursing students of BUEST Nursing College to spread awareness about cancer prevention and early detection.

The theme for World Cancer Day 2026, “United by Unique,” highlighted the importance of people-centered cancer care and recognized the uniqueness of each patient’s journey.

The awareness programme was conducted in the presence of Dr. Ravi Sharma, Director of Ameesh Hospital, Dr. Ameesh Sharma, and hospital staff members. The main objective of the initiative was to educate patients and their relatives about oral, cervical, and breast cancer, focusing on prevention, early detection, and available treatment options.

During the programme, nursing students provided health education to patients and their attendants within the hospital premises. Through demonstrations and real-life scenarios, they explained cancer prevention methods, common symptoms, and the importance of early diagnosis for better treatment outcomes.

The event was successfully coordinated by Ms. Shivani Sharma, Assistant Professor, and Ms. Priya, Nursing Tutor at BUEST Nursing College.

As part of the programme, Dr. Ameesh Sharma also delivered a guest lecture on “Awareness on Breast Cancer” for first-year B.Sc. Nursing students. The session helped students understand the significance of cancer awareness and reinforced their role as future healthcare professionals in promoting public health and early screening practices.
