Literature Society Belletristic at Shoolini University organised on a Book “ Butchered for Love” written by investigative journalist Jupinderjit who was the speaker of the session too. Jupinderjit Singh is an investigative journalist with more than 25 years of experience.
A special correspondent with The Tribune, also the author of four books till date. He has recently brought out a book titled “Butchered by Love” in which he narrates the blood-curdling tale of two star-crossed lovers, Mithu and Jassi, who eloped in order to find a world for themselves but were hounded by the upper-class family of Jassi. Hired killers were set on them and in the skirmish Jassi, the girl, was brutally violated and killed, presumably at the behest of her mother.
Mr. Jupinderjit has been following the case for more than two decades now. He narrated how the killers and those who masterminded the plan have gone unpunished but the survivor, the unfortunate lover boy of the story, Mithu, is languishing in jail on trumped up charges, sunk deep in despair, with nothing at all to look forward to in life.
Prof.Pratip Mazumdar, Dr.Navreet Sahi, Dr.Purnima Bali, and Hemant Sharma from Shoolini participated in the discussion that was moderated by Manju Jaidka, Dean Faculty of Liberal Arts.
Prof Jaidka said in the weeks to come, other such scintillating sessions will be organised by Belletristic, each one providing an interesting take on human values, compelling the listeners to take another look at the evils of society and figure out how to make the world a more tolerant place.
