“Be Job Creators Than Seekers” : Gov

Himachal Pradesh Governor Mr. Shiv Pratap Shukla, today asked students to become job creators rather than job seekers. He also asked them to become responsible citizens and contribute to the development of the country.
The Governor, who was the chief guest at the 8th convocation of Shoolini University on Saturday, said the New Education Policy (NEP) is deeply inspired by ancient learning traditions of Takshila and Nalanda, which placed emphasis “on a well-rounded education system.”
Mr Shukla praised the university’s pioneering steps in adopting the NEP and commended its dedication to holistic and multidisciplinary education. He remarked, “India is approaching the fifth anniversary of the NEP, and I am pleased to note that Shoolini University was among the first institutions to implement its curricula”.
The Governor also praised the university’s focus on innovation and skill development. He stated, “During my visit to the innovation centres, particularly the newly launched Artificial Intelligence and Futures Centre, I was highly impressed by how these hubs are nurturing future leaders, innovators, and job creators who will drive the economic growth of India and Himachal Pradesh.”
Commending the university’s commitment to social responsibility, he acknowledged Shoolini’s efforts in advancing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He noted the exceptional contributions of student volunteers in regular blood donation drives and their dedicated work with YouWeCan Foundation, the cancer awareness initiative founded by cricket legend Yuvraj Singh. He added, “It is heartening to know that Yuvraj Singh himself visits the campus to recognize and appreciate the remarkable efforts of these young volunteers.”
The Governor also administered an oath to students to stay away from drugs and act as responsible citizens. He emphasised that, “Drug abuse is a serious menace that diminishes potential, disrupts families, and weakens our nation. As educated individuals, you must resist this threat, raise awareness, and lead by example. Let us work together to ensure that ambition triumphs over addiction.”
Dr. Monika Kannedy, Head of the Australian Trade and Investment Commission, New Delhi, who was the guest of honour, congratulated the students who were conferred degrees and appreciated Shoolini University’s commitment to academic excellence and global collaboration.
Chancellor Prof. Prem Kumar Khosla congratulated the graduates and extended his blessings for their bright future. Prof Khosla advised students, “Success is not measured by wealth or power but by the positive impact you create on others.”
Pro-Chancellor Mr. Vishal Anand, welcomed the Governor and other guests. He congratulated the students and asked them to embrace challenges and use their knowledge to make meaningful contributions to society. He urged them to “build something with passion, and you will witness a cascading effect”.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Atul Khosla, in his address, highlighted the university’s commitment to promote innovation, research, and global collaborations. He emphasised the importance of research and pointed out that the 15 year old university has made great strides in the field. He pointed out that the university has made a mark among all top global ratings agencies and said that the university would continue to maintain high standards of research.
A total of 1,254 undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, along with 105 Ph.D. degrees were conferred at the convocation. Recognising academic distinction, the university awarded 34 Gold Medals to outstanding students and 20 Merit Certificates for exceptional performance.
On the occasion other dignitaries who were present Mrs Saroj Khosla, Vice President of the Foundation for Life Sciences and Business Management President and trustees Mr Ashok Anand, Mr Satish Anand, Nishtha Shukla Anand, President Innovation and Learning Mr. Ashish Khosla, Chief Learning Officer Prof Ashoo Khosla, Prof R C Sobti, Former Vice Chancellor Punjab University and Members of the Governing Body and the Trust.
Earlier the governor inaugurated the Centre for inauguration of iHub Centre, a state-of-the-art incubation center established under the flagship Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), NITI Aayog.
