Awareness Programme organised on IPR

Himachal Pradesh University and Shoolini University jointly organised an awareness programme on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) in collaboration with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).
The awareness programme included sessions on IP commercialisation, IP career, startups, and the role of IP in new technologies.
Dr. Nandan Sharma, Associate Dean, School of Law, welcomed the guests and shared the importance of intellectual property and the story of Shoolini University’s rising to the top 3 patent filing universities in India.
Dr. Sanjay Sidhu, Dean and Chairman, Faculty of Law, Himachal Pradesh University, explained the importance of interpreting the term “property” under Indian law, and how valuable is added under Intellectual Property Law.
Chancellor, Dr. P.K. Khosla, shared how IP laws ensure the dissemination of knowledge and the importance of IP in the field of science. Vice Chancellor Prof Atul Khosal cited captivating examples of inventions, shared five strategies for protecting intellectual property rights, and laid down a road map for the commercialisation of IP.
Chief Guest, Justice Rajeev Sharma, Former Judge, Punjab and Haryana High Court, Chandigarh, shared his perspective on how to think outside the box and the observation skills one should have. He shared landmark judgements from the United States of America and India explaining the basic concept of IPR.
Mr. Divyaish Srivastava, Assistant Director, FICCI, introduced the role of FICCI as a bridge between the government and the industry along with the initiatives taken for awareness of IP. He also presented the National Intellectual Property Right Policy 2016, explaining the vision and policy objectives. This session was moderated by Ms. Palak Sharma, Assistant Professor of Law.
Ms. Mukul Rani, Assistant Professor of Law, moderated the session on IP commercialization. The speaker of the session, Dr. Sheetal Chopra, the Director, IPR Policy at Ericsson India, joined the session online.

Ms. Ishani Vaidhya, Assistant Professor of Law, moderated the session on IP, IP careers, startups, and the role of IP in new technologies. The speaker of the session was CS Anand Verma, Member, FICCI IP Forum and Managing Partner, Team Legal. He presented eight important IP rights that protect the customer and business interests.
