APG Shimla University Kicks Off New Academic Year with Grand Welcome for Freshers

The event began with a Saraswati Vandana and lamp lighting ceremony. The Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Shivnath Ghosh, Head of the Psychology Department at Himachal Pradesh University, was honored by Chancellor Engineer Suman Vikrant, Pro-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Ramesh Chauhan, and Vice-Chancellor Prof. R.S. Chauhan.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. R.S. Chauhan encouraged students to become self-reliant and utilize every moment at the university for their future careers. He emphasized the importance of quality education and practical application of knowledge. Prof. Chauhan highlighted the university’s commitment to providing a conducive learning environment in line with the new national education policy, and the introduction of new health-related courses.
Chief Guest Prof. Dr. Shivnath Ghosh advised students on maintaining mental health alongside physical health and encouraged them to engage in extracurricular activities for holistic development. University Registrar Dr. Ankit Thakur provided an overview of the university, its departments, and regulatory bodies. Dr. Maninder Kaur showcased the university’s academic activities through a documentary, and Dr. Neelam Ratna Sharma briefed students on various support facilities and committees. Deputy Controller of Examinations Vineet Thakur explained the university’s examination system.
The event concluded with a campus tour for the new students.
