Shimla, November 5 — A disturbing incident has been reported from Sanjauli, Shimla, where a traffic police constable on duty was attacked on Tuesday late evening. Constable Sunil, posted at Sanjauli Police Station, was managing traffic near the HRTC office when he noticed a man smoking in a public place.

When the constable instructed the man to stop smoking — as public smoking is a punishable offense under law — the individual initially put out the cigarette and walked towards Sanjauli Chowk. However, he returned shortly after and physically assaulted the constable without provocation.

The police have initiated action in the case and are investigating the incident to identify and apprehend the accused.
