Theft accused arrested from Sandauli forest

Bilaspur, September 18: In the district, a theft suspect who had assaulted a police officer and fled from Barmaina has been apprehended in the Sonduli forest area. The suspect had been evading the police since Friday night. Now, the suspect will be presented in court. Police spokesperson, DSP Madan Dheeman, confirmed that the police department will investigate the incident that occurred on Friday night. Negligence by the police personnel involved could result in departmental action.

It should be noted that the theft suspect, who was sent to police remand, had assaulted a police constable and fled on Friday night. At the time of the incident, the police were taking the suspect back to lockup after providing him with a meal. It was then that the suspect pushed the police constable and escaped. Since then, a search operation was underway to locate him. The suspect, identified as Happy alias Aniket (20), a resident of Sandauli village in Makdi Marakand Bilaspur, was previously arrested on charges of stealing jewelry worth lakhs of rupees from a house in the Barmaina police station area. Subsequently, he was remanded to police custody by the court, but he escaped during the remand period.

Meanwhile, DSP Madan Dheeman stated that the escaped suspect has been apprehended. The case will be investigated, and further action will be taken. He also mentioned that patrolling by the police will be intensified during the night to curb incidents of theft.
