The incident surfaced on January 12 when the deposited amount in the post office was reconciled. However, a mismatch was observed during the reconciliation of records. Subsequently, when officials conducted a thorough recount, the discrepancy was confirmed. Following the discovery, the Postal Department took swift action and removed the female employee from her duties.

The Postal Department has initiated a comprehensive investigation into the matter, and the team is diligently examining the records. Yadavendra Singh, the Chief Postmaster of Kullu Postal Department, stated that a misappropriation of five lakh rupees has been found so far in the ongoing investigation. Once the investigation is complete, a formal complaint will be lodged with the police.
