Shimla Municipal corporation’s garbage vehicle falls into ditch; driver dies

A tragic accident took place in the capital, Shimla, on Saturday morning. The municipal corporation’s garbage vehicle fell into a ditch. The driver died on the spot in this accident. The incident took place on the Tutu-Taradevi road near the Bharyal garbage plant at around 8 am. The deceased in the accident has been identified as 50-year-old Vinod, a resident of Cart Road Krishna Nagar, Shimla. Boileauganj police station has registered a case and started an investigation.
This municipal corporation vehicle was returning from the Bharyal garbage plant via the Tutu-Taradevi road. According to eyewitnesses, the vehicle suddenly went out of control and fell into a ditch about 300 meters deep. Due to the depth of the ditch and the high speed of the vehicle, the driver could not get any chance to get out.
On hearing the sound of the accident, the local people reached the spot. They immediately started searching for the vehicle and the people trapped in it. After a lot of effort, the body of the driver, Vinod, was recovered about 150 meters below the ditch. The local people immediately informed the Boileauganj police station.
The officials of the Boileauganj police station reached the spot and started the rescue operation. Due to the vehicle falling into a deep ditch, a lot of difficulties were faced in the rescue operation. The police removed the body from the ditch and sent it to IGMC Hospital for a postmortem. While inspecting the spot, the police found that while falling into the ditch, the vehicle broke three small pine trees and stopped 300 meters below in Ghasni.
In the initial investigation of the police, the possibility of technical fault or the driver losing control over the vehicle is being expressed behind the accident. However, the exact cause of the accident will be known only after the technical investigation of the vehicle and the post-mortem report.
