Dharamshala, Dec 4

A massive fire broke out at Hotel Dhauladhar in Kotwali Bazar late Thursday evening, sending thick smoke billowing across the busy market and triggering panic among residents and shopkeepers. The blaze, suspected to have originated from a gas pipeline leakage—though still under investigation—forced immediate evacuation of guests and staff.

Two fire tenders were rushed to the spot, and firefighters worked swiftly to prevent the flames from spreading to nearby buildings in the congested area. Their prompt action helped avert a major tragedy.

Urban Development Minister R.S. Bali reached the site to oversee relief efforts and assured a thorough inquiry into the incident. Authorities have cordoned off the area and diverted traffic to facilitate operations. No casualties have been reported so far.

The incident has once again highlighted the urgent need for stricter fire safety compliance in commercial establishments, especially in densely populated market zones.
