Shimla DC Announces Timings for Firecracker Use During Festivals

Shimla Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap has issued orders permitting the sale and use of only green crackers in the district during Diwali, Gurpurab, Christmas and New Year celebrations.
The permitted timings are:
- Diwali (November 8): 8 PM to 10 PM.
- Gurpurab (November 24): 4 AM to 5 AM and 9 PM to 10 PM.
- Christmas (December 25–26): 11:55 PM to 12:30 AM.
- New Year (December 31–January 1): 11:55 PM to 12:30 AM.
Violations will invite legal action under the Environment Protection Act, 1986 and Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Police and SDMs have been directed to ensure strict compliance with the orders.
