Vinay Kumar Says INDIA Bloc Rally Signals Public Opposition to ‘Vote Theft’
Shimla, November 2: Himachal Pradesh Congress President Vinay Kumar said the large turnout at the INDIA bloc’s rally in Delhi against alleged vote theft reflected growing public opposition to any interference with democracy and the Constitution.
Criticising the BJP, Kumar alleged that its foot march was an unsuccessful attempt to divert public attention from the country’s problems and the issue of alleged electoral irregularities.
He also accused the BJP of exploiting people’s religious sentiments and referred to allegations of misappropriation of donations made for the Ram Temple. He said the country’s electoral process had been disrupted and the functioning of the Election Commission had come under scrutiny.
Kumar further alleged that the BJP was attempting to shield Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar through its foot march. Referring to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise, he claimed that 13 crore Indian citizens had been labelled as infiltrators and deprived of their voting rights. He held the BJP and Gyanesh Kumar responsible for what he described as a serious offence against democracy.
