DC Anupam Kashyap directs focus on road repairs, hostel facilities, healthcare and campus safety

Shimla, October 13: The School Management Committee of PM Shri Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Theog, held a meeting under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap to review infrastructure, residential facilities, student safety, healthcare and the overall learning environment at the institution.

Kashyap stressed the need to provide a supportive atmosphere that promotes academic excellence and the all-round development of students. He called for positive and motivational activities, awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse, and greater participation in sports, cultural programmes and other creative pursuits.

The meeting discussed urgent repairs to the link road connecting the school with National Highway-5, improvements to the campus electricity system, and the removal of construction-related deficiencies in 16 newly built Type-3 staff quarters. Other priorities included better sewage and drainage facilities in hostels, regular waste disposal, free medicines through government health facilities, health check-up camps and measures to protect students from stray dogs.

Proposals included installing a 250-kVA transformer, insulated electrical cables, solar panels with a capacity of 15 kWp, six solar water heaters and an open shed for student activities. The committee also reviewed arrangements for Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Tests for admission to Classes VI, IX and XI, with emphasis on examination-centre management, security and traffic.

The school has recorded notable academic achievements. Class XII student Amisha Bhaluni scored 98.60 per cent in the 2026 CBSE examinations, securing the top position among Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas nationwide. The school also secured third place nationally in the Youth Parliament Competition this year, after finishing fourth last year.

Students have earned recognition in science and commerce olympiads, sports, cultural competitions, Scouts and Guides, and competitive examinations. Five students secured All India Ranks in the NCHMCT JEE for hotel management and catering technology, while students also achieved success in the Indian Culture Knowledge Examination and other national-level events.

The meeting was attended by Theog SDM Dr Shashank Gupta, school principal Roshan Lal and officials from concerned departments.
