SHIMLA 9 October, 2026

The state government has released Rs. 2 crore for the construction of a new building of the Government Senior Secondary School (GSSS) in Rohru, Shimla district. The Planning Department has communicated the approval of funds to the Public Works Department. During his two-day visit to Rohru Assembly Constituency on 1st October, the Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu had announced the allocation of this amount in response to a student’s request during an interaction with students at the Rohru CBSE School. In accordance with the Chief Minister’s announcement, the funds have now been released.

During the interaction, a student had requested the Chief Minister to provide a new building for their school. Explaining the problem, the student said that student enrolment had increased after the school became affiliated with the CBSE. The school was also planning to introduce two shift system from the next academic session. The student pointed out that due to problems related to the availability of buses, nearly 50 percent of students could face difficulties. This could affect their studies and might even force some students to change schools.

After listening carefully to the student’s concerns, the Chief Minister said in Rohru that he himself belonged to a village and therefore understood the challenges faced by people in rural areas. He stated that although Rs. 2 crore would not be sufficient to complete the entire building, the amount was being provided to initiate the construction work. The Chief Minister assured that additional funds would be released in the future for the construction of the new building ensuring adequate and suitable space for students to pursue studies. He further assured that a better campus would be developed for students in Rohru.

MLA Mohan Lal Brakta expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu for releasing funds for development works and fulfilling commitments made to the people of the region. He said that the release of funds would accelerate development activities in the Rohru Assembly constituency. He added that the present state government had left no stone unturned in promoting the development of Rohru. He also said that the Chief Minister remained committed to fulfilling his promises, which was a distinctive feature of his working style.
