CHRDS Organises Debate on the Role of Celebrities in Shaping Public Opinion

The Centre for Human Rights and Disability Studies (CHRDS), HPNLU, under the leadership of Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Priti Saxena, in collaboration with the Student Enrichment Cell (SEC), organised a thought-provoking debate titled “Should Celebrities Be Allowed to Have a Say on Public Political Opinion?” on 29 September 2026 as part of the University’s 11th Foundation Day celebrations.
The debate provided a platform for students to critically examine the influence of celebrities on public discourse and political opinion. Participants engaged with issues relating to freedom of expression, democratic participation, public responsibility and the impact of influential personalities on societal perspectives. Through well-reasoned arguments and rebuttals, students presented diverse viewpoints and contributed to an informed and engaging discussion. The debate was judged by Dr. Rohit Sharma, and was organized by Dr. Sachin Sharma, Director, CHRDS and team.
