Mandi sees over 22pc drop in pending revenue cases
Mandi, September 8: Special efforts by the district administration have led to a reduction of more than 22 per cent in pending revenue cases in Mandi district between March and August 2026.
A total of 4,217 cases were disposed of during the period, reducing the number of pending cases from 5,644 in March to 4,387 by the end of August. During the same period, 2,960 new cases were registered and 19,865 mutations (intkaal) were completed.
Revenue record correction cases saw an almost 90 per cent disposal rate, with 906 of 1,009 cases settled. Pending cases in this category fell by nearly 74 per cent, from 392 to 103. Of 319 private partition cases, 242 were also disposed of.
Special revenue courts organised by the administration disposed of 446 cases, including 201 revenue record correction, 132 partition and 113 demarcation cases.
Deputy Commissioner Apurva Devgan said timely disposal of revenue cases remains a key priority. He directed revenue officers to hold regular courts, review case progress and give priority to older cases, particularly those involving senior citizens, women and people from remote areas.
Demarcation and partition cases will receive special attention in the coming months, as they account for nearly 86 per cent of the pending caseload. The administration will also separately review old encroachment cases and prepare a phased action plan for their disposal.
