BJP Mahila Morcha Ties Rakhi to Soldiers at ARTRAC Shimla
Shimla, August 28, 2026: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Mahila Morcha, Himachal Pradesh, celebrated Raksha Bandhan with soldiers at the Army Training Command (ARTRAC) in Shimla on Friday, with members of the women’s wing tying rakhi on the wrists of Army personnel and extending wishes for their health, safety and long life.
BJP Mahila Morcha Himachal Pradesh president Daisy Thakur attended the programme as the chief guest. The event was organised opposite St Thomas School in Shimla and was marked by a spirit of affection, respect and patriotism.
During the programme, office-bearers and workers of the Mahila Morcha applied tilak to the soldiers, tied rakhi on their wrists and offered sweets as part of the Raksha Bandhan celebrations.
Addressing the gathering, Daisy Thakur said the sacrifices and service of Indian soldiers enable citizens to celebrate festivals safely and peacefully in their homes. She said soldiers serving on the country’s borders as well as those performing their duties at other locations are an integral part of the larger national family.
“Tying rakhi to our soldier brothers on Raksha Bandhan is a moment of pride and deep emotional significance for the Mahila Morcha,” Thakur said.
She said the rakhi symbolises not only the bond of affection between siblings but also trust, respect and protection. Through the programme, the women’s wing conveyed the message that society and the nation stand firmly with the armed forces.
Thakur said the contribution of soldiers who remain away from their families, sometimes hundreds or thousands of kilometres from home, while performing their duties for the nation cannot be adequately expressed in words. She noted that soldiers safeguard the country while facing difficult conditions, adverse weather and numerous challenges.
“Respecting and honouring these brave soldiers is the duty of every citizen,” she said.
Thakur further said Indian festivals serve as a means of strengthening social bonds and bringing people together. Raksha Bandhan, she said, represents not only the sacred bond between brothers and sisters but also the values of duty, protection and mutual trust.
She said the Mahila Morcha sought to use the occasion to strengthen the spirit of patriotism, social harmony and respect for members of the armed forces.
Thakur extended Raksha Bandhan greetings to all soldiers and the people of Himachal Pradesh, saying that the courage, sacrifice and dedication of the country’s armed forces would continue to inspire society.
