Youth Take Anti-Drug Pledge at Hamirpur College under NCORD Initiative

Hamirpur, August 25: A drug-free pledge ceremony was organised at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Memorial Government College, Hamirpur, under the National Coordination Committee for Drug Abuse Control (NCORD) initiative. State Drug Prevention Board Coordinator and Advisor Naresh Thakur attended the programme as the chief guest.

Addressing the students, Thakur highlighted the serious impact of substance abuse on society, particularly among young people, and urged students to stay away from drugs and spread awareness about their harmful effects. He stressed that active participation of youth is essential for building a drug-free Himachal Pradesh.

College Principal Dr Satish Soni said that substance abuse poses a serious threat to the future of young people and encouraged students to adopt a healthy lifestyle and contribute to creating awareness against drug abuse.

A three-day cricket tournament was also organised to promote sports and encourage students to stay away from drugs. Twenty teams participated in the tournament. The Physical Education Department team secured first place, B.Com. Second Year finished second, while the B.Com. Third Year team secured third place.

Faculty members, department heads, students and volunteers from NCC, NSS and R&R participated in the programme. All participants took a pledge to remain free from drugs and contribute towards creating awareness for a drug-free society.
