Shimla Administration Intensifies Preparations for Second Phase of Census 2027

Shimla, August 11: The Shimla district administration has begun preparations for the second phase of Census 2027, with a three-phase training programme for officials and census personnel being conducted at Bachat Bhawan under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap.
The training is being conducted in three batches from August 11–12, August 13–14, and August 17–19, covering officials at the district, subdivision and tehsil levels.
The second phase, involving population enumeration, will be conducted in Himachal Pradesh from September 1 to 30, 2026, considering the state’s snowbound and difficult geographical conditions. During this phase, demographic, social and economic information of every individual will be recorded as per the prescribed format.
The Deputy Commissioner directed all officials and enumerators to perform their duties with accuracy, integrity and diligence, ensuring that no information is missed. The census process is being supported by digital technology to improve data collection, monitoring and management.
Enumerators will visit households to collect the required information. The district administration has urged residents to cooperate with census personnel and provide complete and accurate information.
The meeting was attended by Municipal Commissioner Sachin Kanwal, ADM Protocol Gyan Sagar Negi, all SDMs, District Revenue Officer Shivani Bhardwaj, Naib Sadar Kanungo Om Prakash, among others.
