Shibbothan Dham in Bharmaad emerges as prominent centre of faith and spiritual heritage

Dharamshala, August 10: Shibbothan Dham, located in Bharmaad village of Jawali subdivision in Kangra district, is one of the prominent religious and spiritual destinations of Himachal Pradesh. Surrounded by scenic natural landscapes, the ancient shrine has remained a revered centre of faith for generations, attracting devotees seeking spiritual solace and divine blessings.

According to local traditions, Shibbothan Dham is regarded as an ancient Siddhapeeth, where sages and ascetics are believed to have performed meditation and penance. The shrine is associated with Lord Shiva, and devotees visit the temple to offer prayers and seek blessings for the fulfilment of their wishes.

One of the most widely known local beliefs associated with the shrine concerns snakebites. For generations, people from neighbouring areas have brought snakebite victims to the shrine and performed traditional rituals. While this remains an important aspect of local faith, medical treatment should be sought immediately in cases of snakebite, as timely professional care is essential.

The tranquil surroundings, dense greenery and religious significance of Shibbothan Dham have also made it an emerging destination for spiritual tourism. The shrine witnesses a significant influx of devotees during Shravan, Mahashivratri and other important religious occasions.

Annual fairs are organised at the shrine during July and August, drawing devotees from Kangra, other districts of Himachal Pradesh and neighbouring states. In addition to religious ceremonies, these fairs showcase the region’s rich folk traditions, cultural practices and community heritage.
