Rural Healthcare Strengthening is State Government's Top Priority: Kewal Singh Pathania

Lang, August 7: Himachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Whip and Shahpur MLA Kewal Singh Pathania reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure in rural areas during his visit to the Community Health Centre (CHC), Lang on Friday.

During the visit, Pathania inaugurated a modern dental chair installed at the hospital at a cost of nearly ₹3 lakh and reviewed the healthcare services available at the facility. He also inspected the under-construction CHC building and later interacted with local residents, listening to their grievances at the PWD Rest House in Lang.

Addressing the gathering, Pathania said the government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, is focused on ensuring quality healthcare reaches rural communities by upgrading medical infrastructure and providing modern diagnostic equipment.

He directed health officials to ensure timely, compassionate and quality treatment for patients. Announcing further improvements, he said RVG digital dental X-ray and dental X-ray facilities would be made operational at CHC Lang by Monday, adding that he would personally provide ₹1.10 lakh for the required equipment.

Pathania also announced that an ultrasound machine would soon be installed at the hospital, benefiting thousands of residents from Lang and nearby panchayats by reducing the need to travel to distant healthcare centres.

Inspecting the new hospital building, he instructed officials and the executing agency to complete the project within the stipulated timeline while maintaining high construction standards.

Highlighting infrastructure development, the MLA said an electric bus service for the Lang area would also be flagged off, improving safe, eco-friendly public transport in the region.

He noted that over the past three-and-a-half years, the Lang area has witnessed major development, including CBSE affiliation for the Government Senior Secondary School, opening of a State Bank of India branch, rapid progress on the new CHC building, introduction of professional courses such as BCA, BBA and PGDCA at the Government College, and the establishment of a modern computer laboratory.

During the public interaction, residents raised issues related to roads, drinking water, electricity, healthcare, revenue and other civic matters. Pathania directed officials to resolve several issues on the spot and instructed departments to address the remaining concerns on priority.

On the occasion, 16 residents of Chakwan Gaud joined the Indian National Congress in the presence of Pathania. Welcoming them into the party, he said the government’s welfare initiatives and development-oriented policies were strengthening public confidence in the Congress.
