23 PACS in Shimla Recommended for Phase-III Computerisation

Shimla, July 31: Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap chaired a meeting of the District Level Implementation and Monitoring Committee (DLIMC) on Friday, where 23 eligible Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS)/Multi-Purpose PACS (M-PACS) were recommended for computerisation under Phase III of the Centre-sponsored PACS Computerisation Project.

The project aims to digitally transform PACS by providing hardware, ERP software, training, handholding support, maintenance, and internet connectivity, making cooperative societies more transparent, efficient, and citizen-centric.

Officials informed the meeting that Shimla district has 200 registered PACS, of which 49 are inactive. Earlier, 99 PACS had been recommended for computerisation under Phases I and II, with 96 societies already converted into e-PACS and handed over after successful implementation.

Based on proposals submitted by the Assistant Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Shimla and Jubbal, the committee recommended 23 eligible PACS/M-PACS to the State Level Implementation and Monitoring Committee (SLIMC) for inclusion under Phase III. Proposals for four newly formed M-PACS will be considered in the next phase.

Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap said the computerisation of PACS is a significant step towards digital transformation in the cooperative sector and will improve transparency, accountability, and service delivery for farmers and rural consumers.
