Sirmaur Hosts District-Level ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva – Viksit Bharat’ Competition

Nahan, July 24: Deputy Commissioner Sirmaur Priyanka Verma inaugurated the district-level “Nasha Mukt Yuva – Viksit Bharat” competition at Government Sanskrit College, Nahan, urging young people to adopt a positive mindset and stay away from drugs.

Addressing participants, the Deputy Commissioner said substance abuse destroys health, character, families and society, and advised students not to succumb to academic or social pressure. She encouraged youth to learn from setbacks, improve their skills and work towards their goals with confidence.

The event featured eight competitions, including folk dance, folk music, speech, street play, slam poetry, painting, online reel making and slogan writing, with around 190 participants from across the district. Winners will represent Sirmaur at the state-level competition.

Superintendent of Police Nishchint Singh Negi, who attended the valedictory function, urged youngsters to choose good company, stay away from synthetic drugs and report any drug-related activities to the police, assuring confidentiality for informants.

Participants also took a pledge against drug abuse, and prizes were distributed to winners at the conclusion of the programme.
