JUIT Celebrates its 7th Convocation Ceremony with Academic Grandeur

Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT), Waknaghat, successfully celebrated its 7th Convocation Ceremony on 18 July 2026 at the University Auditorium in the presence of distinguished dignitaries, graduating students, parents, faculty members, alumni, and invited guests.
The ceremony was graced by Shri Kavinder Gupta Ji, Hon’ble Governor of Himachal Pradesh and Chancellor of JUIT, as the Chief Guest. Prof. (Dr.) R. K. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, JUIT; Brig. (Retd) RK Sharma, Registrar, JUIT, members of the Governing Council and Academic Council also graced the occasion.
The Convocation commenced with the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp and Saraswati Vandana, followed by the formal declaration of the Convocation open by the Hon’ble Chancellor.
In his welcome address, Prof. (Dr.) R. K. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, congratulated the graduating students and presented the University’s Annual Report, highlighting JUIT’s achievements in academics, research, innovation, industry collaborations, entrepreneurship, placements, patents, publications, national and international rankings. These rankings are not merely numbers; they are a reflection of our dedication to fostering a culture of innovation, academic rigour, and research excellence. They underscore our commitment to preparing our students to be leaders and change-makers in their respective fields.
In his Convocation Address, Shri Kavinder Gupta Ji, Hon’ble Governor of Himachal Pradesh and Chancellor of JUIT, remarked that JUIT is providing excellent quality education and is helping in the nation building. JUIT is producing huge amount of suitable and sustainable human resources to the state as well as nation. At the entrance of this University, there is a beautiful inscription that I would like to share with you first: “Inspired by Tradition, Driven by Innovation.” This is not merely a motto; it captures the very essence of the JP Edusphere philosophy. Tradition gives us our roots, while innovation gives us our wings. An institution that embraces both the wisdom of the past and the possibilities of the future remains relevant and resilient across generations.
Hon’ble Governor Sir mentioned that today, Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT), Waknaghat, stands as a living embodiment of this philosophy. Established in the year 2000 through the shared vision of the Government of Himachal Pradesh and Shri Jai Prakash Gaur Ji, what began as a dream has today grown into a mighty banyan tree, with its branches extending across engineering, management, sciences, and cutting-edge research. Whenever I walk through this campus, I do not merely see buildings; I see dreams taking shape, aspirations transforming into achievements, and young minds preparing to shape the future.
In his address, he emphasized the importance of preserving and sustainably managing our beautiful mountains, highlighting the immense value of medicinal plants as vital natural resources. He also stressed the need for greater preparedness against natural disasters and underscored the importance of promoting girl child education and empowerment. Referring to the vision of the Hon’ble Prime Minister for Viksit Bharat 2047, he encouraged students to contribute meaningfully towards building a developed and self-reliant India. He further congratulated JUIT on the successful completion of 25 years of excellence in providing quality technical higher education of global standards.
During the Convocation Ceremony, a total of 2,244 degrees were conferred, comprising 1,966 B.Tech., 3 Integrated B.Tech.-M.Tech, 69 M.Tech., 116 M.Sc., degrees at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, along with 90 Ph.D. degrees. The University also recognized academic excellence by presenting the Chancellor’s Gold Medals for the graduating batches of 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025 to Diwakar Paliwal, Janki Insan, Tanya Bansal, Sonam Pelzom, and Rajat Sheetal, respectively. In addition, 43 Vice Chancellor’s Gold Medals were awarded to outstanding students for their exceptional academic performance. The graduating students also took the Convocation Pledge, reaffirming their commitment to professional ethics, lifelong learning, and dedicated service to society.
The ceremony concluded with the Vote of Thanks by Vice Chancellor followed by the National Anthem. Program was conducted by Prof. Hemant Sood. The 7th Convocation marked another significant milestone in JUIT’s 25 years journey of academic excellence, reaffirming its commitment to nurturing competent professionals, researchers, innovators, and responsible global citizens.
