Shimla Gears Up for Grand 80th Independence Day Celebrations

Shimla Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap chaired a review meeting to finalize preparations for the district-level 80th Independence Day celebrations, scheduled for August 15 at 11:00 am on the historic Ridge. The event will feature ceremonial parades by Himachal Pradesh Police, Home Guards, NCC, NSS, Scouts and Guides, alongside patriotic cultural performances showcasing the state’s heritage.

The district administration has directed all departments to ensure timely and coordinated arrangements, with special emphasis on public participation, cleanliness, security and smooth event management. Outstanding individuals from government and non-government sectors will be honoured for exceptional contributions to society, while all parade and cultural participants will receive appreciation certificates.
