Shimla July 13

Former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition Jairam Thakur launched a sharp attack on Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, alleging that the Chief Minister is undermining his own ministers and ignoring public sentiment to safeguard his political position.

Addressing newly elected representatives and BJP workers from the Drang Assembly constituency in Mandi, Thakur claimed the government’s functioning has left not only the public but also ministers and MLAs “disappointed and frustrated.” He criticised the reported denial of an inauguration opportunity to the Education Minister at Deuri School, calling it an insult to an elected representative.

Thakur also alleged deterioration in law and order, accused the government of neglecting several districts, and claimed the BJP had received a strong mandate in recent local body elections. He urged newly elected representatives to utilise Central government schemes, assuring that development would accelerate if the BJP returns to power in the 2027 Assembly elections.
