Shimla, June 12: Himachal Pradesh’s efforts to strengthen the MSME sector under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) programme received appreciation from the Government of India during a high-level review meeting held at the Directorate of Industries on Thursday.

The meeting was chaired by Dr. Rajneesh, Additional Secretary and Development Commissioner, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India. Senior officials, including Industries Commissioner Dr. Yunus, Joint Directors Anil Thakur and Ramesh Verma, and representatives from the MSME Development and Facilitation Office, Solan, participated in the review.

Officials highlighted significant achievements under the RAMP programme. Under the MSME Smart initiative, digital readiness assessments of 1,080 MSMEs have been completed, while 890 enterprises have undergone resource efficiency and cleaner production studies under the MSME Greening initiative to promote environmentally sustainable industrial practices.

To strengthen the entrepreneurship ecosystem, 48 pre-incubation centres have been established across the state, connecting nearly 19,000 youth from ITIs and polytechnic institutions with innovation and startup opportunities.

The state has also taken steps to improve MSMEs’ access to finance through agreements with InvoiceMart and RXIL, enabling enterprises to benefit from the Trade Receivables Discounting System (TReDS) and address delayed payment issues.

Social inclusion remains a key focus of the programme. More than 1,325 rural women entrepreneurs have received skill development training through state agencies, while dedicated workshops, networking sessions and financial outreach initiatives have supported women-led enterprises across Himachal Pradesh.

In a move towards administrative efficiency, 7,492 legacy records from District Industries Centres, Single Window Clearance Authorities and the Directorate of Industries have been digitised.

The meeting also reviewed the progress of the Prime Minister Vishwakarma Scheme. Dr. Rajneesh emphasized the need for wider awareness, timely credit support for beneficiaries and accelerated distribution of toolkits to eligible artisans.

Commending Himachal Pradesh’s performance, Dr. Rajneesh said the state has made notable progress in translating the objectives of the RAMP programme into tangible outcomes. Officials also informed that future international exposure and study visits are being planned to adopt global best practices and further strengthen the state’s MSME ecosystem.
