1,377 Polling Booths to be Set Up for Panchayat Elections in Hamirpur

Hamirpur, May 19: Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer (Panchayat) Gandharva Rathore said that all preparations are being finalised for the three-phase Panchayati Raj elections scheduled to be held on May 26, 28 and 30 in Hamirpur district.
The elections will be conducted for 1,998 posts, including 484 posts of Panchayat Pradhan and Up-Pradhan, 1,376 Panchayat Ward Members, 119 BDC members and 19 Zila Parishad members across 242 Gram Panchayats.
A total of 3,63,699 voters will exercise their franchise to decide the fate of 4,849 candidates contesting the elections. The electorate includes 1,83,851 women voters, 1,79,846 men and two registered third-gender voters.
The administration has established 1,377 polling booths for 1,376 Panchayat wards. An additional polling booth has been set up in one ward of Kanjayan Panchayat in Bhoranj development block, while all other wards will have one polling station each.
Each polling booth will be managed by a team comprising one Presiding Officer, two Polling Officers and one security personnel.
Out of the total polling stations, 257 have been identified as sensitive and 83 as highly sensitive.
The district administration also shared block-wise details of Panchayats and wards. Nadaun block has 62 Panchayats with 342 wards, Bijhri has 49 Panchayats with 287 wards, Bamsan has 25 Panchayats with 135 wards, Bhoranj has 44 Panchayats with 264 wards, Hamirpur block has 38 Panchayats with 218 wards and Sujanpur has 24 Panchayats with 130 wards.
