Congress Failed on Every Promise, Claims Jai Ram Thakur

Jai Ram Thakur on Friday launched a sharp attack on the Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu-led Congress government, alleging that its claim of fulfilling all 10 poll guarantees was “completely misleading and laughable.”
Addressing party workers during his visit to Balichowki in Mandi, the former chief minister said the Congress had crossed “all limits of lying” for political gain.
Jai Ram Thakur alleged that not a single guarantee promised by the Congress before coming to power had been fully implemented. He claimed the state government was struggling financially and even facing difficulties in paying salaries and pensions to employees on time.
Targeting the Chief Minister’s recent statements regarding civic elections, the BJP leader alleged that promises of allocating ₹1 crore for development to Congress-backed councillors amounted to “vote-catching politics.” He said the people had understood these tactics and were prepared to give a strong response in the upcoming municipal body and Panchayati Raj elections.
He further claimed that urban voters were aware that major development funds for municipal corporations come from the Centre and asserted that the BJP would ensure adequate budgetary support for all municipal corporations if voted to power.
“Party Workers Come First”
During his interaction with local BJP leaders and workers, Jai Ram Thakur stressed organisational unity and said loyal party workers would always remain a priority over positions such as pradhan or other elected posts.
He urged party members not to contest Panchayat elections by sidelining the organisation or due to personal differences and appealed for coordinated and united efforts in the elections.
The BJP leader said public representatives should remain accessible to people and effectively raise public concerns. He also called upon workers to actively expose what he termed the “anti-people policies and corruption” of the Congress government ahead of the local body and Panchayati Raj polls.
Two Panchayats in Seraj Elected Unopposed
Jai Ram Thakur also congratulated residents of Gram Panchayats Gudhar and Anah in the Seraj Assembly constituency after both Panchayats were formed unanimously and elected unopposed.
Calling it an example of democratic harmony and brotherhood, he said the consensus would help avoid election-related disputes and accelerate development work in the villages.
