Nauni Varsity Gets New Director Extension Education and HOD Floriculture

Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry has appointed new officials to key academic and extension positions at the university. Dr. DP Sharma has taken over as the Director Extension Education at the main campus of the university. He is also holding the charge of Dean, College of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni.

Dr. Sharma is a distinguished horticulture scientist and academician specializing in orchard management. He has led several major research projects funded by organizations including the World Bank and the HP State Biodiversity Board, focusing on horticulture development, biodiversity conservation and apple nutrition management. His research contributions in apple replant disease management, orchard floor management and fruit crop breeding have been widely recognized through numerous research publications and books. He has also received several awards and recognitions from ICAR and the university for his outstanding contributions to research, development, and extension activities in horticulture. The post of Director Extension Education had recently fallen vacant following the selection of Dr. Inder Dev as Assistant Director General (EP & HS) at Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi

Meanwhile, Dr. BS Dilta has taken over as Professor and Head of the Department of Floriculture and Landscaping. Dr. Dilta is a renowned floriculture scientist with more than 25 years of experience in teaching, research and extension. His areas of specialization include flower breeding, tissue culture, crop improvement, and post-harvest management. He has guided numerous postgraduate and doctoral students, published over 100 research papers in reputed journals, and led several important projects funded by ICAR, NABARD, MIDH and RKVY.

University Vice Chancellor Prof HS Baweja congratulated the scientists on their new responsibilities and expressed confidence that their experience would further strengthen the university’s academic, research and extension activities.
