1,788 Candidates File Nominations on First Day of Panchayat Polls in Una

Una, May 7: A total of 1,788 candidates filed nomination papers on the first day of the Panchayati Raj Institutions General Elections-2026 in Una district on Thursday.

Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer (Panchayat) Jatin Lal said the nominations included 10 candidates for Zila Parishad, 114 for Panchayat Samiti, 388 for Pradhan, 366 for Up-Pradhan and 910 for Ward Member posts.

Among the subdivisions, Amb recorded the highest number of nominations with 456 candidates filing papers, followed by Bangana with 425, Gagret with 329, Haroli with 311 and Una subdivision with 267 nominations.

Officials stated that nomination papers can also be filed on May 8 and May 11 between 11 am and 3 pm before the concerned authorities. Scrutiny of nomination papers will be conducted on May 12 from 10 am onwards, while candidates may withdraw their nominations on May 14 and 15.

After the completion of the withdrawal process, election symbols will be allotted and the final list of candidates will be published.
