BJP’s Karan Nanda Hits Back at Congress Over Women’s Reservation Row

Shimla: BJP Media Coordinator Karan Nanda has criticised the Congress over its stance on the Women’s Reservation Bill, alleging that the party is indulging in political rhetoric and making baseless allegations.
In a statement issued in Shimla, Nanda said the Congress has never been serious about women’s rights and is now attempting to mislead the public as steps are being taken towards women’s empowerment. He added that the Women’s Reservation Bill should be implemented at the earliest to ensure adequate representation of women in Parliament and state assemblies.
He stated that delimitation would lead to an increase in seats, strengthening democratic representation and governance. “If Congress has objections to increasing seats, it should clearly state its position on women’s reservation,” he remarked.
Responding to allegations made by the Mahila Congress against the BJP state leadership, Nanda claimed that the growing participation of women in BJP rallies has unsettled the opposition. He also termed a viral social media video as “fabricated” and called for forensic verification to establish the facts.
On the upcoming urban local body elections, Nanda said the BJP is fully prepared, adding that the party’s organisational machinery has already been activated at all levels.
He further asserted that voters would respond decisively in the upcoming elections, signalling a shift in the political landscape in the state.
