Shimla, April 10: Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap chaired a special review meeting of the district revenue department at Bachat Bhawan, directing SDMs to formulate strategies with field staff to speed up revenue-related work.

Expressing concern, the DC noted that not a single challan has been issued for illegal mining in the past three months and instructed SDMs to take strict action using their powers. He also flagged the lack of surprise inspections related to traffic management and directed officials to propose alternative arrangements for smooth traffic flow during peak hours.

The meeting also reviewed preparations for Panchayati Raj elections, with the DC emphasizing the need for free, fair, and transparent conduct. He asked SDMs to plan in advance to address any challenges during the election process.

On public health, Kashyap directed officials to strengthen strategies for making the district TB-free and ensure effective implementation at the ground level.

He also stressed careful scrutiny of applications under Section 118 in areas like Shimla Rural and Theog, directing officials to verify all documents thoroughly before proceeding.

Reviewing disaster relief, the DC said financial assistance has been provided to 541 families whose homes were completely damaged between 2023 and 2025. He instructed field staff to ensure proper utilization of funds, noting that in some cases the first installment had not been used as per guidelines.

Senior officials, including ADM Protocol Jyoti Rana and SDMs from various subdivisions, were present at the meeting.
