Clean Drinking Water for Every Household is Govt’s Priority: Kewal Singh Pathania

Dharamshala, April 4: Himachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Whip and Shahpur MLA Kewal Singh Pathania reiterated that providing clean and safe drinking water to every household remains a top priority of the state government, aimed at improving public health and quality of life.

He was speaking after laying the foundation stone of a Water Treatment Plant at Batabla under the Jal Shakti Department. The project, being developed at a cost of ₹3.29 crore under the augmentation of the lift drinking water scheme Manei–Pargod, will also include the construction of four water storage tanks in the area.

Earlier, Pathania inspected the ongoing works of the Manei–Pargod lift drinking water scheme, a major project being executed at an estimated cost of ₹17 crore under the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The scheme includes the construction of 20 water storage tanks across various locations.

He stated that once completed, the ambitious project will ensure the availability of clean and safe drinking water to residents of multiple पंचायतs in the region. He directed officials to complete the construction within the stipulated timeframe while maintaining high quality standards to ensure early benefits for the public.

Highlighting government efforts, Pathania said that the state has already achieved near 100% household tap water coverage in rural areas, significantly improving living standards. He added that water testing laboratories have also been set up across the state to regularly monitor water quality.

Emphasizing his commitment to public service, the Deputy Chief Whip said that addressing people’s grievances and ensuring holistic development of the region remains his foremost duty. During the visit, he also interacted with local residents, resolving several issues on the spot and directing officials for the prompt redressal of remaining concerns.
