Karan Nanda Slams Fee Hike in Shimla

Calls It ‘Economic Burden on Public’
Shimla, April 1, 2026:
BJP state media co-convener Karn Nanda has strongly criticized the Himachal Pradesh government over the steep hike in permit fees in Shimla, calling it an “anti-people decision” that adds to public hardship.
He alleged that the government has increased multiple charges significantly, including permit fees from ₹2,000 to ₹10,000 and processing fees from ₹100 to ₹500, along with higher penalties for violations. Nanda said such hikes will directly impact residents, traders, and the tourism sector in the city.
Accusing the government of burdening citizens to boost revenue, he said people are already struggling with rising fuel costs and taxes. He warned that if the decision is not rolled back, the BJP will raise the issue both on the streets and in the Assembly.
