Protests Banned at Key Shimla Locations

Shimla, April 1, 2026:
District Magistrate Anupam Kashyap has made registration of migrant workers mandatory to enhance security and prevent untoward incidents in Shimla. Employers, contractors, and landlords have been directed to ensure that all migrant workers submit their details, along with photographs, at the nearest police station before employment or accommodation.

Under Section 163 of BNSS, verification of identity and antecedents has been made compulsory. Any violation may invite action under Section 223 of BNS. The order will remain in force till May 31, 2026.

In a separate order, the District Administration has imposed a ban on public gatherings, protests, rallies, and demonstrations at 10 identified locations across Shimla city to maintain public order. Prior permission from competent authorities will be required for any such activities.
