Shimla, March 31, 2026:
A large protest by retired employees outside the Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha has triggered concern, with the Himachal Pradesh University Teachers’ Association (HAPUTA) extending full support to the Pensioners’ Association.
In a statement, HAPUTA President Dr. Nitin Vyas termed the situation “deeply concerning,” highlighting that pensioners were forced to protest to demand release of long-pending Dearness Allowance (DA) arrears and dues under the 2016 revised pay scales.
He emphasized that retired employees, who served the state for decades, deserve dignity and timely financial security. The association also flagged broader issues affecting employees, including stalled promotions and proposed salary cuts, leading to widespread dissatisfaction.
Calling it not just an economic but a matter of dignity, Dr. Vyas urged the government to act promptly by releasing pending dues and addressing employee concerns to prevent further unrest.
