1 min read

Una, March 27, 2026:
The Health and Family Welfare Department has launched an HPV vaccination drive in Una district to prevent cervical cancer among adolescent girls. Chief Medical Officer Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Verma informed that vaccination will be conducted on March 29, April 5, and April 12 at 27 designated health institutions across the district.

Around 4,500 girls in the 14–15 age group will be covered under the campaign, with the vaccine being provided free of cost. So far, nearly 1,000 registrations have been completed, while on-the-spot registration will also be available at vaccination sites.

Dr. Verma stated that a single dose of the HPV vaccine provides long-term immunity and is safe and effective in preventing cancer-causing virus infections. The vaccine is already being administered in over 150 countries and has been approved by relevant health authorities in India.

Health experts, including senior doctors in the district, have endorsed the vaccine, with many having already vaccinated their own daughters. Officials also clarified that the vaccine does not cause infertility or long-term side effects, but instead helps protect reproductive health.

The Health Department has urged parents to come forward and ensure vaccination of their daughters, avoiding misconceptions and contributing towards a cancer-free future.
