Jairam Thakur Alleges Misleading Claims

Shimla, March 25, 2026:
BJP legislators staged a walkout in the Himachal Pradesh Assembly expressing dissatisfaction over Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s reply on the Budget Estimates. Raising slogans inside the House, the opposition accused the government of misleading the Assembly and making baseless allegations.

Speaking to the media, Leader of Opposition and former Chief Minister Jairam Thakur said the cm’s response lacked substance and failed to highlight any significant achievements of the government over the past three years. He alleged that instead of presenting concrete results, the government was attempting to shift focus by targeting the previous BJP regime.

Thakur further claimed that the government is engaging in “blame politics” and making unverified allegations, particularly concerning issues related to healthcare and governance. He questioned the contradictions in the government’s statements, saying that on one hand, it promotes treatment in government hospitals, while on the other, it speaks of alleged irregularities in medical institutions.

The BJP leader also alleged misuse of investigative agencies and accused the government of attempting to target opposition leaders. He stated that the government is losing credibility among its own legislators as well as the public.

Thakur maintained that the opposition’s walkout was a mark of protest against what he termed as “fact-less statements” and lack of accountability in the government’s response.
