Free Cataract Surgery & Lens Scheme for Senior Citizens; Apply by March 26

Hamirpur, March 24, 2026:
The Social Justice and Empowerment Department is offering free cataract surgeries for eligible senior citizens under the National Action Plan for Senior Citizens. District Welfare Officer Chaman Lal Sharma informed that the department will bear the entire cost of surgery, including high-quality lenses worth up to ₹10,000.
In addition, beneficiaries will receive ₹1,000 for medicines and ₹1,000 as transportation allowance for hospital visits.
The scheme aims to support economically weak elderly citizens suffering from cataract, ensuring access to quality eye care without financial burden.
