Solan, March 20
The Legal Aid Clinic of the Faculty of Legal Sciences at Shoolini University organised a Door-to-Door Legal Awareness Campaign in Sultanpur Panchayat, Solan. The initiative was carried out in compliance with the directions issued by the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Solan, to raise awareness of women’s legal rights and available support mechanisms.
The campaign was coordinated by Assistant Professor, Faculty of Legal Sciences, Mr Vineet Kumar, under the banner of the Legal Aid Clinic, in collaboration with the representatives of Sultanpur Panchayat. A team of 25 students from the Faculty of Legal Sciences participated in the drive, interacting with community women and sharing information on their legal rights and protections.
During the awareness drive, students highlighted crucial issues, including domestic violence against women, legal remedies available to victims, victim compensation schemes, and the provision of free legal aid through Legal Services Authorities. They also informed residents about the NALSA helpline number (15100) and encouraged women to seek legal assistance whenever required.
The campaign received valuable support from Ms Sheela Devi, Ward Member of Sultanpur Panchayat, who assisted the team throughout the visit and facilitated effective interaction with the local community.
Prof. Nandan Sharma, Associate Dean, Faculty of Legal Sciences, appreciated the initiative and encouraged students to actively participate in such outreach programmes aimed at promoting legal awareness.
