30 More Personnel Deployed to Strengthen Traffic Management in Shimla

Shimla, February 28, 2026: Shimla Police has intensified efforts to streamline traffic management in the city by deploying 30 additional traffic personnel. With this latest reinforcement, the effective strength of the traffic police has increased to 181 personnel.

The city has been divided into sectors, and key traffic junctions and congestion-prone areas have been identified to ensure better regulation. The additional personnel have been deployed at major points including Totu Chowk, Sankat Mochan, Ghora Hospital, Lift area, Bemloe, High Court, Marina, Talland, Tara Hall, Lakkar Bazar Bus Stand, New OPD IGMC/Auckland Tunnel, Gopal Mandir Bazar, and Summerhill Chowk, among others.

Police officials stated that the move aims to manage rising vehicular pressure, reduce traffic congestion, and ensure smoother and safer movement for residents and tourists. The number of motorcycle-borne traffic riders has also been increased to enable quick response in narrow lanes, regulate illegal parking, and handle emergencies effectively.

Special focus areas include school and office hours traffic, tourist season rush, weekend congestion, and strict monitoring of illegal parking and encroachments.

Shimla Police has appealed to citizens, transport operators, taxi unions, and visitors to follow traffic rules and cooperate with authorities.
